A visual inspection of your pool is the first step to finding a leak. Examining the shell, liner or tiling can provide an indication of the source of your leak. If everything seems fine, then sonar leak detection technology can be deployed to find issues within your pipework—such as cracks, broken joints or root intrusion—that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye.
First of all, it's important to identify the type of leak. There are two basic types: a crack in a pool surface or a leak from a pool line, such as a supply pipe or return jet. To fix a pipe leak, first of all the location of the leak will need to be found using sonar or pressure testing, then the offending pipe will need to be dug up and repaired. This may require a new joint or replacement pipe. Cracks in the pools surface will often need to be fixed with appropriate relining.
